Henry Gall

(Northern District) Born at Aberdeen, October 1828, the son of John Gall and Barbara Cruickshank, and a convert to Catholicism; left, unordained, 9th November 1847, readmitted to Blairs, 14th December 1847, and ordained a priest by Bp. Kyle at Preshome, 25th March 1852; because of ill health, went, in 1874, to England, then to Belgium and, finally, to Paris, where he died, 17th September 1891.

Report of the ordination of Henry Gall in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1853.

The Rev. Henry Gall, born in Aberdeen, October, 1828, was admitted into St. Mary’s College, Blairs, on 31st August, 1839. Being sent, on the 9th September, 1843, to the Scots College at Valladolid, he left that College in November, 1847, and was readmitted to Blairs on the 14th December following. Having there completed his theological studies, he was called to Preshome on the 12th March, 1852, where he was ordained Subdeacon on the 20th, Deacon the 22d, and Priest on the 25th of same month and year by the Right Rev. Dr Kyle. Having spent the subsequent six months as Missionary at Preshome, he was appointed in October to the charge of the Congregation at Strathavon.
